Not Me! Monday or Did I really do all that in a week?

What an amazing week! I hope that you all enjoyed all of the guest posts - to Brittany, Brittany, Amber, Brown Eyed Girl, Whitney & Julie - I so appreciate you all helping me!

Whitney, I'm not sure what happened to the pictures - when I looked at it today, I saw they were missing. So sorry!

In typical vacation style Mr. Potts and I ate more than usual, drank more than usual & had a FABULOUS time!! What better way to share this with you than in Not Me, Monday fashion.

In case you haven't been introduced to Not Me Monday, here is the gist: This fun game originated with MckMama and you list a lot of things you "didn't" (read: actually did) do this weekend/past week. All in the name of admitting that we all make mistakes and aren't perfect.

Mr. Potts and I were NOT upgraded to first class for our flight to Miami. We definitely did not take advantage of the extra service & adult beverages. Uh uh - drinking & flying dehydrates you.

Mr. Potts and I did NOT enjoy some of the best Cuban food in South Beach. Oh yum...I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Mr. Potts and I did not go out in South Beach & have a wonderful time. Oh the people watching!!
We absolutely did NOT have a great time out that night & end up meeting some very nice Swedish men. Who were very emphatic that they were NOT a couple.

We did NOT love our room on the ship with a view of the ocean.
We did NOT go on our cruise with one of Mr. Potts' best friends. We did NOT meet his new girlfriend & we definitely did NOT love her to death. (Seriously though, she was so awesome!)
Mr. Potts did NOT eat sushi for the very first time & love it! He gave it two thumbs up.

The Potts family most certainly did NOT enjoy their time in Grand Caymen. We most certainly did NOT get to see stingrays & hold them. Dangerous mates (Bad Steve Irwin joke there)!

We did not get to hang out with this cutie named Nemo. After hanging out with Nemo, getting kisses from him, dancing with him and petting him I certainly did NOT turn to Mr. Potts and tell him I wanted one.

We did NOT (no way, uh uh) go to Cozumel & ride ATV's through the "jungle". I didn't see how fast mine could go (37 by the way) & I definitely did NOT go through a huge puddle at full speed!

Our last night was spent at the steakhouse on board. I did NOT have a twinge of jealousy that Mr. Potts was able to order the lobster bisque. Uh uh. Not me.
Mr. Potts most definitely did NOT decide to take a snooze in the Miami airport. We spent Saturday afternoon/evening with some of our best friends here for our annual "Friends Thanksgiving". We all get together & share a Thanksgiving dinner.

I made a homemade cranberry sauce (which has apple, pear, orange, cinnamon & nutmeg in it - yum!) & a homemade pecan pie (no Caro syrup for this girl's pie!).

We all had a great time - as evidenced by the group shot.

What did you not get in to?

Not Me! Monday

In case you haven't been introduced to Not Me Monday, here is the gist: This fun game originated with Mckmama, while LittleSack introduced it to me. you just list a lot of things you "didn't" (read: actually did) do this weekend/past week. All in the name of admitting that we all make mistakes and aren't perfect.

This is going to be more of a couple's edition, since we spent the weekend in Virginia watching IU (Indiana University Hoosiers) lose badly to Virginia. Mr. Potts definitely had a few, "Not Me!" moments.

• We didn't get up Saturday morning to begin tailgating by 11am. Not us! No way would our breakfast consist of fried chicken, macaroni & cheese and beer! No way!
  
• We didn't watch the Hoosiers hand the ball over to the other team & just watch as they ran by them. Uh uh - never happened. We definitely were not seated in a full Virginia section while sporting IU shirts. These guys across the field were quite entertaining, though.
• Mr. Potts and I did not decide 2 minutes before half-time that since IU hadn't scored & were losing 28-0, that we were going to leave the stadium & walk to a bar. Nope, no way we'd ever leave before a game was over just to have some beers!!
• We didn't then get bad directions from random people on the street who totally sent us WAY out of the way - causing us to walk for at least 30 minutes to get to a Buffalo Wild Wings. Uh uh - we would never go that far for an adult beverage.
• Mr. Potts didn't then proceed to commiserate with a fellow Hoosier about how badly they were losing. No way would we sit with people 10 years our junior & get inebriated. Uh uh.
• Mr. Potts did not walk out of said establishment & leave behind his favorite zip-up hoodie. No way would he be that out of it. He would not then proceed to pass out at the table of the restaurant we then went to with his head on his arms while everyone looked on. I did not walk him out to the van so he could lay down in the back seat. No way. Not us. We're way to grown up for that!
  

On Sunday we went with our friend for a tour of the Virginia campus. It was absolutely gorgeous - I have to say, however, that I would have loved to have spent the afternoon on our couch. Some pictures from our tour.What a gorgeous chapel on their campus!!

All, in all, a great weekend!! What all did you NOT do this weekend?
If anyone has any suggestions where we can get a replacement hoodie for Mr. Potts, I'd greatly appreciate it! His was from Banana last year & was a navy material with a grey (super soft) material on the inside. He's heartbroken to have lost it.

Not Me Monday - Holiday Weekend Edition

All in the name of admitting that we all make mistakes and aren't perfect.

Thursday.
Not a thing here. We spent half a day at Mr. Potts' boss' pool with everyone he works with. I was still only day two into recovering from a sinus infection, so just some sunshine for me. Mr. Potts, however, could stand to write a few of these. So from his perspective - Thursday.

Mr. Potts - I did not become a little inebriated on Thursday and smear cupcake frosting on my friend - a la a wedding cake smear. Not me!

Mr. Potts - I was not so schnockered that when Mrs. Potts got us home I stood in our courtyard and talked to one of our neighbors about getting drinks. I was not so schnockered that I looked aghast at her when she shot that idea down! Not me!

Mr. Potts - I did not fall asleep (read: pass out) Thursday night with the alarm clock cuddled up tight to me, wrapped in both arms like a baby. Uh uh. Not me!

Mr. Potts was on quite a roll Thursday night. Which made Friday an easy fix. We hung out with my niece & nephew & my mom and took them to a rec park with a really big pool. He made up for his showing the night before by riding down the water slide with my niece over and over.
The rest of the weekend was not really "Not Me" worthy, but to recap, we had about 20 people over on Saturday night and barbecued. We live just off of a bridge which provides us a great view of the fireworks. Great times had by all & we were able to see some people we hadn't seen in a while.
Last night, two of our neighbors invited us over for dinner. It was really good, even though I'm not a fan of mushrooms. They were part of the chicken, so I gamely tried to eat some. Ick.

How was your holiday weekend?

And curiously, any of you have food that you just can't eat? Whether it is a texture thing, you're allergic, etc.

The countdown is ON!!! In 5 days Mr. Potts and I will be leaving for the Outer Banks! Vacation - I can seeeeeeee you!!!

Not Me Monday!

MckMama started this fun idea for Mondays and I picked it up from LittleSack (who is back from Italy! Go tell her "hi!"). MckMama began this as a way to admit some of her imperfections and reveal a few moments she'd rather forget. She thought others may find it therapeutic to join in and do the same thing - I did!

I did not open a bottle of white wine as soon as I got home Friday afternoon. I did not proceed to have two glasses on our deck with Mr. Potts while we were waiting to get ready to go to dinner. Not me!I did not go Southern on a man when he had messed up my UHaul rental. Ok, yeah, I really did, but when you do it well, it works!!

I did not have two drinkies (as our friends call drinks) over at their pool on Sunday. I did not finish both of these 24 oz mojito drinkies and then promptly pass out on the lawn chair to "nap".I did not nap for another two hours when we got home while Mr. Potts went to the HOA meeting & then the summer BBQ for the neighborhood. I did not keep napping when the meeting was done & he asked if I was going to come down. I did make it down, albeit an hour later than scheduled.

I did not go right to bed after our BBQ ended - hey, it was 9:30 by then!

I did not sit in the Philadelphia airport Friday on a layover and drink two beers. Not me! I know that alcohol before I fly makes my ankles disappear.I didn't get home on Friday night and promptly pour myself a glass of ice cold Chardonnay to sit on the deck with. Not me!!I did not laze around on Saturday on our deck and enjoy the sunshine. Not me - I wouldn't do that when I know there is cleaning to be done!

I did not go to a wedding & wish for the million'th time that places would be better about regulating their AC. I did not sweat through a wedding. No way!

I did not go with Mr. Potts to Waffle House at 3 in the morning to make sure that we had "food on our stomachs before we went to bed."I'll even carry this into today!

I did not lay in bed this morning instead of going to the gym. I did not look over at Mr. Potts with one eye sealed shut & tell him to turn off the alarm because, "It is too nice to be in my own bed with my own pillow & have to get up & go to the gym."

I did not go to Harris Teeter to get our things for dinner (lemon garlic flounder filets) & completely forget to get anything for myself. Not I, small fry!

Not I, Small Fry!!

Littlesack over at Navigating the Quarterlife turned me on to "Not Me! Mondays". The general gist is that you list things you "didn't" (read: actually did) do this weekend/past week. All in the name of admitting that we all make mistakes and aren't perfect. Now, I'm far from perfect and I'm all about being honest & admitting my mistakes, but this is a great way to do it!

I did not come home on Friday from Atlanta and refuse to make any decisions about dinner. I did not insist that Mr. Potts was in charge of all decisions that night. Nope, not me. I'm totally all about pulling my big girl pants up & making decisions.

I did not watch the Panthers lose to Arizona. Didn't happen!
Ok, I have to amend that one - obviously we did lose & I definitely watched it.
I did not share a pizza & wings while out on Saturday night watching the Panthers lose. Nope, not me. Blue cheese dressing? Pepperoni?? Not I, small fry!

I did not get a small popcorn & Sour Patch kids at the movie on Sunday with my niece. No way. Seriously - have way more self control than that.

Are you noticing a trend here? It's all about food - I mean, c'mon!

I did not sleep on my flight to LaGuardia this morning. No way! I went to bed super early last night & got plenty of rest!

So what did you "not do" this past week or over the weekend? Is anyone else noticing that most of their's are regarding food?

Just curious, who sleeps on planes? Do you nod off as soon as the engines start or are you wide awake & alert? Anyone get anxious flying? I don't mind it - I can fall asleep as soon as the engines start & have been known to be sound asleep before we're even fully leveled out.
