I came, I lost, I left again

I made it home from Florida last week with a nasty cold which meant that my weekend of fun scheduled with these four beautiful ladies was off for me.

So so sad that I wasn't able to make it to meet them all. I guess that means I'll have to arrange individual trips? Ladies, would that work?

I did make it home, however sad I was to be missing out on girl time, only to turn around & get everything washed & re-packed to head to Maine.

And let me tell you, I've said before that summer season is in effect - well yesterday topped it all.

The airport was slammed.

The security lines wrapped the building. The line I use was on a stop & go - meaning they'd let 5 people move into the actual wrap around part while the rest of us kept lining up.

People didn't realize that you can't just leave your luggage on the belt & not push it through.

Little girls (16'ish) kept holding up the screening by leaving things on. You know, like jewelry, sweaters ..... their shoes!

LaGuardia was hot. Apparently in the small plane terminal the AC wasn't working.

Not to mention that summer storms were approaching.

So I spent extra time in an un-airconditioned terminal delayed from taking off. In addition, there was additional wait time on the plane parked on the tarmac. Did I mention the AC was broken on the plane? Oh yes, the plane that had a broken AC unit.

Love it.

The best airport sighting had to be the man who kept trying to pawn his son off to other people to take on the plane.

Yep, you read that right.

A man had bought his son an airline ticket to fly somewhere but wasn't flying with him. Instead of paying the fee for an unaccompanied minor, he kept walking around to different people in the terminal trying to get them to take his son.

When the attendant at the gate would see this, she'd run over & stop it.

He'd find someone new.

She's stop him.

He found a man who shared the same religion and argued that should be ok - because they both know God.

Now, I don't know about you, but just because someone knows the same God I do, I don't think I'd trust them with my child. Just me? I doubt it.

I finally made it here safe and sound.

Hot and Sweaty.

Tired and Giddy (anyone else get the same way?).

Happy Tuesday, y'all! Perhaps tomorrow should be a little list for people who may be traveling during the summer months - you know, a checklist to help you get through it easier/faster/less stress.

Time Flies, but Only First Class

Y'all - where has the month gone??

I can tell you - I've got no clue where most of June has gone.

Actually.

Yes, I can.

It has gone to Maine.

For 2 full weeks.

Then it shipped off to Florida.

June will next be seen in Maine for another week.

So if any of you have missed it, that's been the travel schedule it has followed.

The people watching has been the best lately. Summer travel season is officially here. No more boobs on my arms, but plenty more to share!

Tell me it truly is Thursday?

Celebrating a Graduation

My precious niece recently graduated from Kindergarten. Which was no small feat on her part (or my mom's).

This little, sweet munchkin doesn't have a mother who read to her or worked on letters and numbers.

She has a mother who tells her that her short hair makes her look like a boy.

Real winner, huh?

So a graduation from Kindergarten is a testament to the work my mom has done with her.

Homework at night. Learning letters and putting them into words. Afternoons when Aunt Mrs. Potts runs over after work to spend time with her (& my sweet nephew too) and practice the words of the week and counting.

Did you know hopscotch can be a great tool for number recognition? She's really good at it.

So to celebrate her big accomplishment Mr. Potts and I took her Sunday afternoon for a movie.

Marmaduke was the movie on tap for just the three of us, along with a kid's treat of popcorn, gummy candy and Mr. Pibb.

She loved it. We loved it. We love her.

From our Easter Egg hunt this year.

How could you NOT love them?

Phew - Finally Friday!

I have to skip Fabulous Friday this week. I'm just not in the oh so fabulous state of mind.

I'm glad to be home after a week in New England.

One which was filled with the summer travelers. This may be the cause of my lack of Fabulous Friday state of mind.

The whole week was filled with ridiculousness.

It started with my trip through the Charlotte airport and the security line. Having traveled so much over the years I've achieved a priority status which allows me to access special security lines so I don't have to wait.

Two lines through security. I'm in the left lane, so it makes sense that I head to the left screening area. Makes sense, no?

I'm pulling my laptop out when I notice a woman standing abnormally close to me. So close in fact that when she tries to muscle her way in front of me, I'm suddenly standing there with my right arm engulfed by her boobs.

I look back at her & tell her that there is a screening area to the right (she was in the right lane). To which she replied, "Yeah, there's also this one."

All the while my arm is still encased in her chest.

And she keeps pushing up against me.

I finally raised my voice & said, "Ma'am. Please remove your breasts from my arm or I'll alert security." Over the top? Probably, but I just couldn't take it any more.

And she acted insulted! I mean, really, my arm was trapped in your chest & you're insulted?

And the shenanigans didn't end there.

Bad drivers on the drive from Boston. Left lane, getting passed by people in the right because of the person in front of me.

Getting bitten by something that has now swollen up and is the size of a quarter on my arm. It itches, but at the same time, it hurts? I mean, really?

Rain the whole way back to Boston yesterday for my flight home. After passing a State Trooper (don't know if that is what they're called up there) and thinking I was going to get a ticket, my stomach dropped.

Trying to find a Subway I had found online for lunch and not being able to.

Having all of 30 minutes in the airport to grab something to eat, scarf it down, make it to the bathroom & board the plane.

A family in the row in front of me on the flight home. With three children. All under the age of 6.

One little one who couldn't have been more than a year and a half screamed the whole way home. Screamed. Not whimpered. Not cried a little with the altitude change. Screamed.

One little one who may have been around 3, kept standing up in the seat, turning around and sticking her finger up her nose.

We had quite a bit of turbulence and I'll admit, there were times when I thought I would have enjoyed seeing her get her finger stuck up there.

Because, it was just one of those weeks.

And while I like children, I don't want to have to watch them dig for buried treasures.

Happy Friday y'all!!

Wide Awake

I set the alarm this morning for an early workout in the hotel gym. What I didn't realize when I went to sleep last night was that the clock was set a full hour ahead.

Which means when it went off at 4:40am, it was really 3:40am.

Needless to say, my body was tired, my brain was fuzzy & my butt stayed in bed - at least until 5:50am (the real 5:50, not 4:50). Confusing, isn't it?

Hoping this is not a sign of what my day will look like.

Happy Tuesday!

Yum, Yum, Yum in my Tum, Tum, Tum!!!

Simple treat for a Friday night evening in with Mr. Potts was in order this past weekend.

We were both tired, we were hungry & wanted easy.

I pulled out a pound of lean ground turkey, threw some spices in, Mr. Potts threw them on the grill and we feasted!

We loved it & Mr. Potts actually said they were so good that he'd take these over regular burgers - except when he's hung over & craving grease. Cause you know, a greasy bacon cheeseburger makes all hangovers better. Especially if you could throw some peanut butter on there!!

Thought I'd share the recipe since it really was so easy & we loved it.

Mrs. Potts' Easy Peasy Turkey Burgers...YUM

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey breast
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Red Pepper Flakes to your liking (we like it a little spicy)
Directions
  • Combine all ingredients and mix well. Pat out 4-5 patties, depending on how big you like them. Mine tend to be puffy & then I flatten them on the grill.
  • Coat Grill with Cooking spray.
  • Place on grill and let them sit for a minute.
  • Using a spatula, press down so that the patties are more evenly spread (i.e. not so big and puffy).
  • Cook for5 minutes over medium to medium high heat on both sides.
We served these with whole grain breads, spicy mustard, ketchup, slice of turkey bacon, lettuce, tomato & a little Miracle Whip. It was perfect!

Great Burgers - no pictures - we devoured them!!!

If you try them, let me know what you think.

Happy Monday Y'all! Hope your week will be wonderful.

If you have a chance to, make sure to head over to Megan's Blog & congratulate her & Brent on the birth of baby Cohen. Such a little miracle who could use all the good wishes we can send them.

Makes me happy

I've seen quite a lot of dog owners in the last few days riding around with their dog in the backseat, window down, head out & tongue flapping in the wind.

It always brings back happy memories for me. My Maddy loved to hang out in the back seat (mind you, she took the WHOLE back seat) and hang out the window.

And I always giggled when someone would ride to close when she did that.

Inevitably, they'd have to spray their windshield & run their wipers a few times.

Hey, the girl had JOWLS. And she drooled A LOT. What can I say?

So today, enjoy yourselves - I promise, this post will make you smile (even if you're not a dog lover - huh?).

Maddy Sized: Wrong Breed, Right Size

Makes me think of Hade Dog

How could you not love a face like that?

My hair would "flow" like this too!

What do you think he's staring down?

Faster, Faster!

Just for fun, I've always wondered what it would feel like.

I'd probably eat a bug.

Happy Thursday, y'all!!!

Wishful Wednesday

I wish I could be the one and only Carrie from Sex and The City!

If I could choose to "be" any character, I'd pick Carrie every time.

Not for the clothes, although I swoon.

Not for the shoes, be still my heart!

But for her hair!

Because y'all, if we're honest here, she could be my hair twin, if not separated by a few years.

And her hair always is spot on.

Never FRIZZY.

Perfectly wavy.

Seriously, just spot on.

So if you have any advice on how to get my to die for hair twin's hair to actually work for me, I'm so open to suggestions - and a how to would be great too.
