I'll Be There - II

I lived in the Cape Fear River area (Wilmington, NC) during & after Hurricane Floyd & witnessed it's devastation of the area I called home.

I've personally witnessed the aftermath (2 months after the fact) of Hurricane Katrina on a city I loved & called home. I saw the markings on the houses telling how high the water had risen & how many had been lost.

Seeing what people are going through in Haiti breaks my heart again & unleashes that empathy that causes me to cry at commercials.

However you can help, I encourage you to do so.

Here are some organizations accepting donations:

• InterAction has a list of agencies responding and how to donate to them. Find it here

• To donate $10 to the American Red Cross, text Haiti to 90999. The amount will be added to your next phone bill. The organization is also accepting donations through its International Response Fund.

• To donate $5 to Wyclef Jean's Haitian Yele charity, text 501501. The money will be added to your next phone bill.

• To find out how to help the International Rescue Committee, visit their webpage or call toll free, 1-877-REFUGEE.

• Donate through Oxfam's emergency appeal

UNICEF: Visit www.unicefusa.org/haitiquake or call 1-800-4UNICEF.

I know, it's so sad. You have such a big heart to write about it. I'm sure Brent and I will make a donation over the weekend. I think it's definitely the right thing to do.

I've never lived through a hurrican, but through my job and personal experiences I've witnessed pure devastation. I don't believe anything though could hold a tune to the massive amounts of loss, heartache and devastation the people of Haiti are currently experiencing.
It breaks my heart :(

Way to dedicate a post as a way to get the word out on how to help! Just proves we can all do something, no matter how small or big of a gesture.

totally sad.. it truly is.
So, you live in NOLA after the storm?
WOW! still think about it. The storm(Katrina)actually hit on my 30th bday..
I was scheduled to go down there 2 days later for the first LSU game which proceeded to get canceled.
I assume if you moved there 2months after the storm you lived in the Quarter or Uptown?

I was so amazed by the fact you could just text to donate. It made it SO easy, and everyone should do it!
It is just so sad. I was watching coverage yesterdeay when I was at the gym on the treadmill. I cried on the treadmill. I could feel it coming and it was just too late to stop the tears. Owell.
