Snow Day?

Do you all remember as children when the weather forecast would call for snow? Do you remember getting giddy & barely sleeping during the night in hopes that you'd wake up in the morning to a heavy 6 inches that would shut the city down, keep you out of school & allow you to build pitiful little snowmen that would promptly melt by 3pm?By the way, my snowmen never looked like this!

I remember getting excited when it would snow and I could drink hot chocolate with my mom while still in our PJ's at 11am.

I also remember the disappointment when the snow wouldn't come and we'd have to go to school anyway. As a side note, don't you think it only fair that if there is even the slightest chance that children will be out of school for snow that they should just go ahead & give them the day??

And while they're (whomever they are) at it, just go ahead & give adults the day off too?

Right now I'm in Maine watching the snow swirl around outside. Wondering how a Southern girl is going to navigate through all this & thankful that up here there are snowplows out regularly.

The snow looks something like this:
Happy Tuesday everyone! I think most of you in the South are staying warm - wish I was! I'm definitely in layers up here!

I know that all my friends with kids hate when it is only a dusting and they cancel school because they have to miss work and be stuck home all day with them!
Me personally.. I have never stayed home when it has snowed.
It's all my years in the news business....
we work no matter what!

Oh, Mrs. Potts, it's so beautiful there!!

But yes, I do remember those days, snow days. My parents had to be at work very, very early in the morning, so we would go to a friend's house in the mornings and their mom would always take us to Dunkin' Donuts and we'd eat glazed donuts with pink frosting and sprinkles. I loved snow days for donuts!

I do remember those days, but growing up in Florida, it was hurricane days we prayed for! Sad, but true!

I still wish for snow days. It's rare - but ever so occasionally, our university shuts down if there's too much snow.

It is in my contract for work that if I see snow I get a snow day (Snow doesn't really happen in Charleston a lot) That picture makes me cold! Hope you are having fun!!

I wish adults still got snow days!!!
I wanted one today!
It all does look pretty though. Luckily, I grew up driving in this snow, so I am used to it, but I will take any excuse for a snow day from work! :)))

I still get excited at the thoughts of them. When I taught we used to do snow dances for that measley 1/2 to 1 inch we were so hopeful for!

Thinking of you and praying that you have safe navigational travels this week. It is beautiful to look at though.

Oh goodness!!! Be careful driving in that mess.

I used to cherish my snow days. But now that Ellie gets them all too often I despise them. LOL!!!

XOXO

I'm hoping our snow in the midwest is over, but I have a feeling it's not! I'm not a snow lady, but I loved it when I was a kid for exactly the reasons you wrote, haha! Stay warm!

Oh, what I wouldn't give for a snow day. It's been unusually bright and sunny over here lately! It's kind of nice actually, but I doubt there are any snow days in my future!

I used to be glued to the TV in the morning to see if our school was going to be closed for snow! :)

Then I'd be P.O.'d when every other school was besides us.
